Training

We have a variety of training packages in Childhood Bereavement & Loss which we can offer to you or your organsiation.  These range from one hour sessions to full day training events. Training in Childhood Loss and Grief 2017 - Level 2

A practical skills course looking at supporting children and young people who have been bereaved.

Aims

  • Provide knowledge, skills & tools to facilitate childhood grief & loss
  • Create personal resources to use with a bereaved child or young person

Learning outcomes

  • Participants will be encouraged to explore their own loss & grief in a creative way
  • Increased confidence & understanding when using creative & therapeutic activities with children
  • Experience group activities and the resulting dynamics
  • A deeper understanding of children’s responses at different ages & their perception of death
  • Enhanced existing skills to under-pin practice in professional settings
  • Increased self-awareness from the use of reflective journal
  • To enable participants to explore their own grief
  • To experience activities we use with children

Who should attend?

Level 2 is a continuation from the Level 1 training in childhood loss and grief. It offers an opportunity for participants to learn practical skills when supporting children and young people who have experienced a loss.

Aims

This three day course seeks to develop:

  • Knowledge of childhood grief
  • Communication with bereaved children
  • The effects of loss on a family
  • Support for the bereaved child in school
  • Support for children following suicide and traumatic death
  • Other resources available to support child and helper

Learning outcomes

  • To gain confidence and understanding when supporting children, in relation to loss and grief
  • Increased awareness and confidence when communicating with grieving children and young people
  • To understand a child’s perception of death
  • To enable participants to acknowledge their existing skills and identify their learning needs in relation to loss and grief
  • To learn about useful resources

Who should attend?

Schools Training Day- Remember Me:

Date TBC, May 2018

Headland Hotel, NEWQUAY.

A one day workshop for schools and early years settings which addresses the issues of bereavement, loss and critical incidents. Highly recommended, this workshop will equip staff to use the ‘Remember Me Booklet’ more effectively. Learning Outcomes:

  • Strategies to support grieving children within the educational setting.
  • Gain insight into the impact of loss on children’s development.
  • Special considerations: Traumatic grief, Anticipatory Grief etc.
  • Dealing with critical incidents - BWiseB4.
